Saturday 30th May - 13:00 / Sunday 31st May: 13.00 (CEST)

Hi Melanie! Can you tell us a bit about yourself, please?

Working for Berlin-based radio station FluxFM for almost half a decade now, I have always been a music enthusiast. I still haven’t overcome the fact that I make a living from listening to and talking about music. Making people acquainted with new sounds and bands satisfies me more than it should satisfy any sane person – and there is no better platform for that than radio!

Thanks to working on Berlin’s Ja Ja Ja and meeting all the lovely people at the Nordic music export offices, I’ve had the chance to dig deep into the Nordic music scene over the last twelve months.

My shows at the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar will give listeners the chance to expand their knowledge on bands they might already know as well as discovering some fierce new sounds as we will talk about Nordic electronics and the current predominance of Nordic female artists in pop music.

John Kennedy

Get to know: John Kennedy - XFM

Saturday 30th May: 16.00 (CEST) - What Is Nordic?

Hello John! Let’s start off with an introduction to who you are, what you do and what you’re planning to bring to the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar…

I’m John Kennedy from the radio station XFM in London, UK. I do a new music show called X-Posure which goes out four nights a week. It’s been going quite a few years and in that time, I’ve featured many Nordic artists and had many Nordic guests on the show. I will bring my duty free alcohol, supposed expertise and maybe some interesting footwear.

Can you tell us about the show that you’ll be hosting at the Nordic Playlist Radio Bar? What should we expect to hear?

I’m calling it ‘What Is Nordic?’ and it will be an attempt to work out what Nordic means. This is a questions that comes up a lot when playing Nordic artists on the radio. Is it just a geographical description? Is there a particular sensibility? Can so much creativity be down to eating pickled shark? Expect attempts to answer these important questions. hopefully with some guests who will be in a position of knowledge and experience, plus some fine Nordic music to complement the talk.

And finally, which artists are you most looking forward to seeing at this year’s Berlin Festival?

In order not to show any favouritism, I decline to answer this questions. The whole thing will be amazing!
